Onafhankelijke belangenbehartiging door de Vereniging van Registrars

Beste VvR-lid,
Graag informeren wij je over een aantal belangrijke veranderingen met betrekking tot jouw lidmaatschap bij de Vereniging van Registrars (VvR).
Onafhankelijke belangenbehartiging
Onze leden hebben tijdens de Algemene Ledenvergadering (ALV) van 30 november 2020 besloten om een volgende stap te zetten in de onafhankelijkheid van onze vereniging. De financiering van de VvR zal niet langer via SIDN verlopen, waardoor de VvR een onafhankelijkere positie krijgt. Zo kunnen we onze rol als belangen- en branchevereniging verder versterken.
In het verleden betaalde elk lid via SIDN een bijdrage aan de VvR. Dit is per 1 januari jl. stopgezet.
De leden hebben tijdens de ALV van vorig jaar het bestuur dan ook goedkeuring gegeven om deze bijdrage rechtstreeks bij de leden te gaan innen. Aan de hoogte van de bijdrage verandert niets; deze blijft € 25,- (exclusief btw) per kwartaal. Alleen de wijze van innen gaat dus anders.
Wat doet de VvR voor jou?
Allereerst behartigen we natuurlijk jouw belangen als registrar richting SIDN. Onlangs is de overeenkomst tussen SIDN en de VvR die dit formaliseert weer verlengd. SIDN ziet de VvR daarbij als de exclusieve vertegenwoordiger van de registrars. We geven SIDN onder andere gevraagd en ongevraagd advies. Dit doen we op strategisch niveau, maar ook op het gebied van techniek en marketing. Voorbeelden van dossiers waaraan we samen met SIDN werken zijn: de kwaliteit en continuïteit van het .NL-domein, EPP en DRS, de Whois, de salesfunnel op sidn.nl, de Registrar Score Card, het juridisch loket, de hostinginfrascan en co-funded marketing. Daarnaast zijn we in gesprek met SIDN over onze zorgen rondom de prijsontwikkeling van .NL, de consolidatie in de markt en de new-business-activiteiten van SIDN. Door de VvR anders te financieren, wordt het gemakkelijker om deze gesprekken onafhankelijk te voeren. Zo kunnen we nog beter opkomen voor de belangen van registrars.
Daarnaast is de VvR ook volop bezig om andere voordelen voor haar leden te realiseren. Zo krijg je bijvoorbeeld korting op IT-trainingen, cybersecurity- en aansprakelijkheidsverzekeringen, ISO-certificering en organiseren we vanaf 2022 diverse on- en offline bijeenkomsten gericht op kennisdeling en het uitbreiden van je netwerk. Ook lobbyt de VvR actief voor de belangen van registrars bij de politiek en werken we samen met andere organisaties zoals DINL en het Platform Internetstandaarden.nl.
Kortom, de VvR behartigt jouw belangen als registrar, zorgt voor direct voordeel en bundelt de krachten tot een gezamenlijke stem.
Zijn je gegevens correct?
Nu de financiering niet meer via SIDN gaat, moeten we ook onze eigen ledengegevens beheren. Op de factuur staan de gegevens die we van jouw bedrijf hebben geregistreerd. Wil je deze controleren en ons secretariaat mailen (zie contactgegevens onderaan deze brief) als je gegevens niet correct zijn? Zo kunnen we jou op de juiste manier bereiken.
Daarnaast kun je via het secretariaat ook een (extra) account voor ons ledenportaal aanvragen. Op dit portaal delen we meer informatie over onze diensten en de dossiers die we bespreken met SIDN. Leden kunnen er ook hun mening geven over lopende zaken.
Jouw bijdrage
De bijdrage aan de VvR werd door SIDN tot januari 2021 op je factuur getoond en vervolgens doorbetaald aan de VvR. In de nieuwe situatie blijft de bijdrage ongewijzigd, te weten € 25,- (exclusief btw) per kwartaal. Omdat 2021 een overgangsjaar is, factureren we dit jaar slechts één kwartaalbijdrage. Je vindt de factuur bij deze brief. Vanaf 2022 wordt de bijdrage jaarlijks gefactureerd. Heb je meerdere registraraccounts en wil je de facturatie liever op één factuur hebben? Neem dan contact op met ons secretariaat voor de mogelijkheden.
Tot slot
Met deze nieuwe stap is de VvR beter in staat om jouw belangen te behartigen. Mede dankzij alle extra’s die het lidmaatschap jou biedt, kunnen we meer toegevoegde waarde genereren voor onze achterban.

Independent representation of interests by registrars' association Vereniging van Registrars

Dear VvR member,
We are happy to inform you about a number of important changes regarding the membership of the registrars’ association ‘Vereniging van Registrars’ (VvR).
Independent advocacy
During the General Assembly (GA) of 30 November 2020, the members of the VvR have decided to take the next step for the independence of our association. The funding of the VvR will no longer pass via SIDN, so that the VvR will acquire a more independent position. This will allow us to further solidify our role as an association fending for our interests and sector.
In the past, each member paid a contribution to the VvR via SIDN. This has been discontinued as of past 1 January. During the GA of past year, the members therefore have granted approval to the board to start collecting this contribution directly from the members. The amount of the contribution does not change; it remains € 25 (exclusive of VAT) per quarter. So only the manner of collection is changed.
What does the VvR do for you?
In the first place we naturally defend your interest as a registrar vis-a-vis SIDN. Recently, the agreement between SIDN and the VvR formalising this has been extended again. SIDN thereby considers the VvR as the exclusive representative of the registrars. Among other things, we give SIDN both requested and unsolicited advice. We do so at a strategic level, but also in the field of technique and marketing. Examples of files we collaborate on with SIDN are: the quality and continuity of the .NL-domain, EPP and DRS, the Whois, the sales funnel on sidn.nl, the Registrar Score Card, the legal help desk, the hosting infra-scan and co-funded marketing. In addition, we are in conversation with SIDN about our concerns regarding the price development of .NL, consolidation on the market, and the new-business activities of SIDN. By funding the VvR differently, it becomes easier to conduct these conversations in an independent manner. In this way, we are better able still to defend the interests of registrars.
In addition, the VvR is fully active as well to realise other advantages for its members. You will get a discount on IT training, for example, and on cybersecurity and liability insurances, and on ISO-certification, and as from 2022 we will organise various on-line and off-line meetings directed at knowledge sharing and the expansion of your network. The VvR also actively lobbies for the interests of registrars with the political sector, and we collaborate with other organisations, such as DINL and Platform Internetstandaarden.nl.
In brief, the VvR defends your interests as a registrar, procures direct advantages, and bundles forces into a united voice.
Are your details correct?
Now that the funding no longer passes through SIDN, we also have to manage our own membership data. On the invoice, you can find the details we have registered for your company. Would you be so kind as to control these and e-mail our secretariat (see contact details at the bottom of this letter) if your information is not correct? In this way, we are able to reach you in the right manner.
In addition, you can also apply for an (additional) account for our members portal via the secretariat. On this portal, we share more information about our services and the files we discuss with SIDN. Members can give their opinion on current matters as well.
Your contribution
The contribution to the VvR until January 2021 was shown by SIDN on your invoice and subsequently passed on to the VvR. In the new situation, the contribution remains unaltered, that is € 25 (exclusive of VAT) per quarter. Because 2021 is a transitional year, we only invoice a single quarterly contribution this year. You will find the invoice attached to this letter. As from 2022, the contribution is invoiced annually. If you have several registrar accounts and you prefer to be billed via a single invoice? In conclusion
This new step allows the VvR to defend your interests more effectively. Also thanks to all the extras that membership offers you, we are able to generate more added value for our constituency.
